Helping engage survivors into essential, life-long, follow-up care.
Long term follow-up care for survivors of childhood cancer is critical. However many barriers prevent survivors from receiving adequate follow-up care. Our team have developed a new nurse led online or over-the-phone intervention called ‘Engage’. It aims to engage childhood cancer survivors' into essential lifelong survivorship care, for the prevention and management of ongoing post cancer treatment-related conditions.

The Behavioural Sciences Unit are inviting survivors to trial our new online program called ‘Engage’. Engage supports survivors by providing survivorship care online or via telephone, without having to wait for a face-to-face clinic appointment.

Your feedback will help us to improve the delivery of long term follow-up care for survivors of childhood cancer.

What does this study aim to achieve?

The study aims to improve childhood cancer survivors’:
  • health-related quality of life and self-efficacy
  • knowledge of late effects
  • satisfaction with care
  • adherence to recommended follow-up
We are also interested in understanding how feasible ‘Engage’ would be to implement into the healthcare setting, and if it is easily accessible by all childhood cancer survivors.

Would you like to be involved?

This study is currently recruiting people who meet the following criteria:
  • are over 16 years of age;
  • previously diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16 years or younger;
  • completed all treatment and are currently in remission;
  • were diagnosed at least 5 years ago
Alternatively, if you are a parent of a survivor who is either 16 years or younger and meets the above criteria, you may also be eligible to participate..
