Dr Ursula Sansom-Daly, PhD

PhD: 'Where to after treatment? A new way to support young people with cancer.'

Ursula Sansom-Daly completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Masters of Clinical Psychology degrees at the University of New South Wales. Ursula also completed her PhD thesis in 2014, which looked at ways to better understand, and address, positive adjustment to cancer (and ‘life after cancer’) in young people. Particular research interests of hers including understanding the mechanisms or factors that might account for psychological outcomes among young people and their families, as well as developing innovative ways to support young people and their families through the cancer experience and into survivorship. Ursula has worked with young people and families living with cancer for five years, and in 2012 she also visited with experts in the field at the National Institutes of Health, USA, to learn state-of-the-art strategies to further improve how we support young people with cancer and their families in Australia.

Brittany McGill

Brittany completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Sydney and Masters of Clinical Psychology at the University of New South Wales. She has worked as a psychologist in a variety of public and private settings, and has a particular passion for helping families and young people navigate the emotional and physical challenges often faced during and after cancer treatment. Brittany is a facilitator for our Recapture Life and Cascade online groups which were developed to support young cancer survivors and parents of childhood cancer survivors in the period after treatment.

Sarah Ellis

BA.Psych (Hons) - B.Health, DCP/PhD (Candidate)
 
Sarah completed undergraduate degrees in Psychology (Honours) and Health at Macquarie University and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Sydney University. Sarah has worked as a psychologist in a range of hospital and community settings and is passionate about supporting the mental health and well-being of children and families at all stages of the cancer journey. Sarah is a facilitator for our Recapture Life and Cascade online groups which were developed to support young cancer survivors and parents of childhood cancer survivors in the period after treatment. She is also undertaking a PhD investigating sleep difficulties amongst parents of children with a chronic illness, particularly in the hospital setting.
