Healthy eating is important for children after cancer treatment
Children’s diets often change during and after cancer treatment. Our team has found that many children become ‘fussy eaters’ and parents struggle to motivate them to eat vegetables after they have finished cancer treatment. Healthy eating habits, including eating plenty of vegetables and fruit, is critical in helping to prevent young cancer survivors from developing a late effect of their cancer treatment such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis.
Our team have developed a new parent online intervention called ‘Reboot-Kids’. It aims to give parents the tools and strategies to help their child eat a healthier diet after they finish cancer treatment. It is a three-session program that delivers personalised nutritional coaching both online and by telephone. Your feedback will help us to improve the delivery of dietary support for parents of young cancer survivors in the future. |
